How to Waste Your Greatest Business Tool?
We are writing this post because we have seen plenty of small and medium businesses wasting their greatest business tool, their websites. We have talked about advantages of having a website. Many companies invest high amounts to get a desired domain name, get a brilliant design and to keep the site online. But most of them forget the key step ‘maximizing the opportunity’. Here is how they waste their website.
- By keeping the old content: many business websites are pretty to saw but horrible to read. They are marketing a product of 21st century with a description wrote in 18the century.
- By not considering customers: it seems many businesses sites are developed to make their customers data mining professionals. They enter the site and lost the way.
- By including too much animations: animations are good only for first time and welcome/home pages.
- By keeping/increasing broken links: how often you can stay a site which show ‘Not found’ message for every link you click.
- By making site inaccessible for Search Engines: by writing all in JavaScript, not linking to pages, not configuring servers, by shifting pages often, and by using uncommon tags.
- By keeping screen-readers away: why to bother about them and your unclosed/poorly closed tags? You got a fantastic design which looks pretty on your favorite browser; and no where else.
- By not tracking visitors: an interesting thing is that most companies think there site as thousands of visitors per day. Good thinking with a dead/no tracking tool.
