If you are running a business you should need to conduct frequent interview sessions; especially your company is in good growth phase. Interviews can be of different types as direct official, practical, on phone, online, etc. Every option has merits, but the first one is most effective and successful. Here are some tips for conducting an effective interview.
- Conduct interviews only for the purpose of recruiting employees. Any other purpose can harm your long-term goals/reputation.
- First, learn about your industry, latest developments and techniques, latest company regulation rules etc. So that you can be confident as an interviewer.
- Decide a good time interval for the interview. Remember different positions need different approaches and different timings.
- Before asking any specific questions, go through the candidates resume, especially look for educational qualification, work experience, etc. And then plan your questions.
- Carefully choose the interview material: choose from questions of different fields, practical tests, experience testing, combination of these, etc.
- Conduct interviews with smiling face and friendly voice, so that the person(s) in font of you can better present their ability.
- Keep limit for your questions and, make them short, precise and interesting. Ask only deep questions if the position require those.
- When asking questions, give preference to finding the candidates’ intelligence and dedication to work. If he/she is good at those, can learn, adapt to and do any work in quick time.
- Give low preference to the salary issue. If you think that the candidate is best suited to a position or he/she can be better trained, if is good to take a chance.
