Competition analysis still remains the big hurdle for companies want to establish themselves top of the market. Although many big enterprises hires services of market researchers and consultants to get accurate information, small business managers still have to do it themselves. Here are some tips for competition analysis and winning the market.

  • Figure out all competitors of your market; considering many things such as geography, products offering, preferred customers, etc.
  • Learn more about your competitors; their product quality, special offers, customer service, product/service features, marketing practices, website design, highlighted features, public opinion about them, color schemes, branding practices, as much as you can get.
  • Compare them with you; what things are common and what are different.
  • Make yourself unique; try some innovative ideas like offering value added products, more features, special offers, etc.
  • Be clear about your goals; figure out whom the customers you want to target, their preferences, your expected growth rate, etc.
  • Make yourself more attractive. Review and change your website design, color schemes, ads, front office appearance, etc.
  • Speak loudly; let everyone heard about the advantages your got, let them know how they benefit from you, let them know how you can serve them better than your competition.
  • Make it a continuous process; if you change your tactics (and its work) the next big tactics change will be from your competitor. So stay up to the task.
