Problems during Business Start-up

Starting a new business is not an easy task, especially when you have not enough previous experience. Here is a list of problems that a novice entrepreneur may suffer. Remember these problems are not actually problems; they are opportunities – to learn more and survive.

  • Early drawbacks and losses. This is almost inevitable to most new businesses. It takes months or years for you to get trusted customers and market reputation.
  • Unhappy customers. There may be always some pessimists among your customers, irrespective of your service or product quality.
  • Poor implementation of plans. Market is not 100% predictable, especially for new ones; bending and breaking of plans are necessary to survive.
  • Business dry-up periods. Believe there will be periods in which customers lose their buying power, want to try new products or you lack resource for constant advertising.
  • Frequent changes in product prices. Some times you have to sell products for less than your buying cost to survive. It is time that teaches you when to buy and when to sell.
  • Cutting down in working capital. Many times you have to fire employees, reduce stock level, and avoid cost software and solutions to stay competitive.
  • Paying more taxes than expected. It needs experience to minimize your tax burdens.
  • Finding funds. This is most common, you have to plan it even before you get into business and have to keep a backup always; or you can believe ‘If there is a will, there is a way’.
