E-mail Marketing or Direct Mail Marketing?

For small businesses, especial start-up businesses, mail marketing is always a better choice. It does not cost you much but allows you to reach out to potential customers personally. But of the two, mail marketing and direct mail marketing, which one is better?

Well it depends on your business type and lots of other factors. E-mail marketing is especially beneficial for companies which are online, which offer hi-tech products, which target young customers, of which marketing territory is fairly big, which want to communicate customers frequently, and which are looking for faster methods of communication.

Direct mail marketing is more favorable for companies which offer traditional products to fairly old customers, who are not so accustomed to new age technologies or believe emails can’t touch their minds. Direct mail marketing is also good for companies which need only seasonal campaigns, companies offering durable products, companies which are extremely territorial and companies which want to make a lasting impression on customer minds.

At the start-up of a business it is always good to practice both email and direct mail marketing with same intensity. You can then concentrate on the better strategy, which earn your more business, and can minimize the other one to seasonal campaigns. Before we conclude one more thing; the success of both campaigns greatly depends on the validity of your mailing list and the impression you can make with the campaign.
