The ideas behind evolution (by Darwin) and business growth (formulated by all known and unknown businessmen) are same to an extent. Organisms are companies are produced/constructed in large amounts but only a tiny proportion cross their childhood, a fraction of those crosses adultery and a handful of remaining are selected by nature/market for persistence.
In both evolution and business, it is the competition that forces the change. Some organisms, so do companies, eliminate the competition by migrating to new environments while some others stay there and counter attack by developing changes. They try different types of tactics to win the competition, tactics which involve the change of appearance, strategies, feeding mechanisms, social living or partnering with others.
The nature/market favors only those who developed positive changes and eliminates all those with negative traits. Nature let the successful one to grow and reproduce. Every successful organism/organization is taken to next level of competition and necessitates them to make new inventions to stay alive.
So what the real thing? It is simple - In order to grow, a business must develop positive changes continuously. It must always remain on top; so that the market is forced to selects it for persistence.
"Remember evolution is gradual in nature but rapid in business and No market favors noncompetitive organizations."
