Determining Quality of CRM Data in Data Integration Database

In any CRM, the database quality can get eroded due to the frequent errors that may occur during various data integration in a CRM. It is advisable to have a timely data profiling or analysis of the database. The quality of the data stored in the database through data integration can be assured by the verifying the data through data audit. The major step involved in carrying out the audit is the thorough the analysis of data which is also known as data profiling. There are two methods in carrying out the data analysis such as manual and automated data profiling.

In manual data profiling the analyst will create a data assessment with the existing documentation and assumptions and develop a guess about where and what problems are likely to be encountered during data integration. Then the analysts will go through sample data, as they may not be able to go over all the data, to find out if the assumptions are correct. If the analysis made is true, they will develop programs to rectify the identified problems. After this, the analyst will again go through the data to find out if the correction were applied. Again the process of analysis is carried out and tested. The main disadvantage in this type of data profiling is that the process is time-consuming and is very much costly as the process involves a number of iterations and draining of IT resources. Moreover there is no guarantee that all the problems is identified and corrected.

Automated data profiling is considered as the most efficient and accurate way of data analysis. This process involves all the data not just samples as in the case of manual data profiling. This tool will help the organization to find out all the problems involved in the data to have a complete idea about the data structure that involves data quality and relationships and is much faster than manual profiling.

This method helps in correcting the data errors in a much easier and efficient way and helps in viewing the profiling result and gives a report of the data analysis with the analyst note. As soon as the data problem is identified, it helps the user to examine the data elements.

Thus data auditing through proper data analysis or profiling will help to know the quality of the data and also maintain the quality of the database in your CRM software.
